A public Iftar has been held in al-Quds (Jerusalem) as parts of a humanitarian program aimed at boosting affinities between the Iranian and the Palestinian people.

Organized by the International Union of Unified Ummah, the event hosted Palestinian worshippers at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the East al-Quds on July 8.

The Unity and Resistance Iftar became possible through the humanitarian and charitable contributions of the Iranian nation. It was held despite tight security measures imposed by the Israeli intelligence and attempts to restrict the movement of Palestinian worshipers to the al-Aqsa Mosque.

The program aims to express solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine and demonstrate the close ties between the Palestinian and Iranian nations.

The Iftar ceremony was held ahead of the International Quds Day, which is a manifestation of Iran’s support for the Palestinian cause.

The annual occasion is marked on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan to praise the Palestinians’ resistance against Israel and condemn Tel Aviv’s illegal occupation of Palestinian territories.

The International Quds Day was declared by the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini as an international day of struggle against Israel and for the liberation of Jerusalem al-Quds. This year’s Quds Day will be held across the world on July 10.
