The objective of the conference was to create understanding and raise awareness of mosque management on the importance and benefits of using mosques as a tourism product in the country, according to Jakim in a statement here today.
The conference co-organised by Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture was aimed at developing mosques in the country as a tourism package for the international arena.
“Besides that it aims to make Malaysia as a point of reference and guidance for Muslim leadership worldwide in an effort to uphold mosques as a religious institution,” the statement said.
The conference, a follow-up to the Malaysian Mosque Tourism Convention held by JAKIM and the Tourism and Culture Ministry on Oct 2, 2014, was attended by 80 leaders and committee members of mosques throughout the country.
